About Diclazepam

To begin, Diclazepam (also known as chlorodiazepam) is a lesser-known novel depressant substance of the benzodiazepine class. It is a structural analog of diazepam (Valium) and is reported to produce similar effects. Which works by enhancing the activity of certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Also, with anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, sedative, muscle relaxant, and amnesic properties and a long duration of action.

Uses of Diclazepam

Firstly, this drug is a useful adjunct for the relief of skeletal muscle spasm due to reflex spasm to local pathologies. Such as inflammation of the muscle and joints or secondary to trauma; spasticity caused by upper motor neuron disorders. Such as cerebral palsy and paraplegia; athetosis and the rare “stiff man syndrome”

Secondly, its usage in the treatment of severe anxiety disorders, as a hypnotic in the short-term management of insomnia. Also, a sedative and premedicant, as an anticonvulsant, and in the management of alcohol withdrawal syndrome. Tolerance will develop to the sedative-hypnotic effects within 3-4 days of continuous use. After cessation, the tolerance returns to baseline in 7 – 14 days. However, in certain cases, this may take significantly longer in a manner which is proportional to the duration and intensity of one’s long-term usage.

Effects

However, in terms of energy level alterations, this drug has the potential to be extremely sedating and often results in an overwhelmingly lethargic state. Again, at higher levels, this causes users to suddenly feel as if they are extremely abstaining sleep and have not slept for days. Thereby forcing them to sit down and generally feel as if they are constantly on the verge of passing out instead of engaging in physical activities. Moreover, Diclazepam overdose may occur when a benzodiazepine is taken in extremely heavy quantities or concurrently with other depressants. Lastly, this drug is extremely physically and psychologically addictive.
